Available for download as installable only DVDs
Unfortunately for some of you, there is no Live edition of this operating system, which means that it can only be installed on a local drive. It’s available for download as DVD ISO images of approximately 1GB in size each, designed for the 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.
The boot menu will allow the user to install a fresh copy of the operating system or upgrade an existing installation, install the OS with basic video drivers, rescue a broken system, boot from the local disk drive, as well as to perform a system memory diagnostic test.
Easy-to-use graphical installation process
During the installation process, the user will be asked to select a language and keyboard layout, set up the computer’s hostname and configure the network (optional), select a timezone and set the system clock, enter a root (system administrator) password, partition the disk drive, and select the software packages that you want to install.
Productive and modern desktop environment
The KDE Plasma desktop environment provides users with a modern and productive graphical session. It is comprised of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where the user can launch applications or interact with running programs.
Users can be added during the first time boot process. Default applications include the LibreOffice office suite, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Clementine audio player, K3b CD/DVD/BD burning software, KTorrent torrent downloader, Kopete IM client, and Dragon Player video player.
Summing up, Ekaaty Linux proved to be a great Fedora remix that has been designed from the ground up for the Brazilian user. It comes with built-in support for the Brazilian Portuguese and English languages, a familiar and easy-to-use desktop environment, as well as a powerful Fedora base. Also, do not hesitate to try the Academic edition of Ekaaty Linux!
