changelog

EXTON MultiBootCD 6-OS is an open source project specifically designed to help system administrator with system rescue operations, as it includes no more than six tiny Linux-based operating system that have been tailored for such tasks.

Downloadable as a dual-arch Live DVD

This special Linux project can be downloaded via Softpedia or directly from its official homepage (see link above) as a single, dual-arch and hybrid ISO image of approximately 1GB in size, engineered to support both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.

Comprehensive boot prompt

The main attraction of this Live DVD is the boot prompt, as it allows the user to start one of the included distributions of Linux, such as Slax, Puppy Linux, Tiny Core, GParted Live, 4MLinux Allinone Edition and SliTaz.

Each of the aforementioned distros will run in live mode with specific options that are noted in front of them. For example, the GParted Live, SliTaz and Puppy Linux run in RAM (system memory), Tiny Core start with embedded X/GUI extensions, but also in RAM, and Slax starts always fresh.

In addition, the boot menu of the EXTON MultiBootCD 6-OS Live DVD includes six more entries with more options for each of the aforesaid Linux distribution, as well as various system tools and other handy utilities.

Please note that not all the included distributions of Linux have extra boot options. For example, only Tiny Core features the ability to start with support for slow devices or run in command-line only.

Last but not least, the “System Tools” boot entry includes Super GRUB Disk Legacy, Super GRUB2 Disk, FreeDOS, Smart Boot Manager, Graphical Boot Manager, Ranish Partition Manager, AIDA Diagnostic Tool, Hardware Detection Tool, HDD Diagnostic Tool, NT Password Viewer, HDD Wipe Data Tool and Memtest86+ utility.

From the “Other” boot entry, the user can start an existing operating system that is installed on the first disk drive, boot the C:/ or A:/ drives, as well as to reboot the computer.

Bottom line

In conclusion, EXTON MultiBootCD 6-OS is a really great project that will help advanced user and system administrators alike to rescue broken operating systems, recover lost data from damaged hard disk drives, as well as to diagnose various hardware issues.
