Available for download as a 64-bit Live DVD
The Lightworks edition of DreamStudio Unity is distributed as a single Live DVD ISO image of approximately 3GB in size, engineered to run only on 64-bit computers. It can be easily written to either a DVD disc or a USB flash drive of 4GB or higher capacity.
The functionality of the boot loader of the Live DVD ISO image is identical with the one from the main DreamStudio Unity edition, as it will automatically start the live system in approximately seven seconds from the moment the user boots it from the BIOS of a PC.
Beautiful, modern, attractive and productive desktop environment
Unity is used as the default and only graphical session of DreamStudio Unity with Lightworks, providing users with a beautiful, modern, attractive and productive desktop environment comprised of a top panel and a dock (application launcher) on the left side of the screen.
The main emphasis is on Lightworks
As mentioned, the main emphasis of this special DreamStudio Unity edition is on Lightworks, the most advanced free video editing software that can be used to create professional grade videos, which are captivating and emotionally beautiful.
Default applications include the GIMP image editor, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, Empathy multi-protocol instant messenger, Transmission torrent downloader, Gedit text editor, as well as a wide range of multimedia production related apps that can also be found on the main DreamStudio Unity OS.
Summing up, DreamStudio Unity with Lightworks is identical in look and functionality with the main DreamStudio Unity edition, but includes an extra layer of software, especially Lightworks and its dependencies.
