DMDc For Linux

DMDc is an open source distribution of Linux based on the award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system and built around the lightweight MATE desktop environment, a clone of the GNOME Classic graphical interface.

This Debian-based OS can be downloaded via Softpedia’s secure servers or from its official website (see link above) as two Live DVD ISO images of approximately 2GB in size each, designed to support 64-bit (x86_64) or 32-bit (i386) instruction set architectures.

The boot menu on the Live DVDs looks pretty slick and comprehensive. It will allow the user to start the live environment with support for a specific language, such as English, Spanish, Catalan, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Danish, Dutch, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovak and Swedish.

The user can run the operating system in safe graphics mode using the failsafe boot option, run a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing OS from the first disk drive. Another interesting feature is the ability to start the live session with or without the boot splash or in verbose mode.

The MATE desktop environment offered in this Live Linux distribution has been highly customized and it comprises of a top panel, a left panel and a desktop widget. While the top panel will help you to navigate the main menu and search for pre-installed applications, as well as to quickly cycle between virtual workspaces, the left panel acts more like a dock (application launcher) and task manager.

DMDc features LibreOffice, Adeskbar (Dock), Skype, Jitsi, PubKey, Export-User, Formt-USB, Caja with root support and terminal access, Aironux, Dropbox, Compiz/Emerald, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, GIMP, Clipit, Catfish, qBttorrent, Railendar, Banshee, Vokoscreen, and much more.
