DBLab LXLE Remix
A custom LXLE Linux distribution that uses twice as much open source applications
DBLab LXLE Remix is an open source distribution of Linux that has been designed from the ground up as a remix of the LXLE (Lubuntu Extra Life Extension) operating system, which in turn is a respin of the Lubuntu Linux distribution using the LXDE desktop environment.read more
Available as full-features Live DVDsLike many other DBLab editions, this release comes with two Live DVD ISO images of approximately 4GB in size each, designed for the 64-bit (amd64) and 32-bit (i386) instruction set architectures. The user must burn these images to DVD discs or write them on USB flash drives of 4GB or higher capacity in order to boot them from the BIOS of a PC.
Boot optionsNo surprise here either, as this DBLab flavor features a standard boot menu that powers all of the other DBLab editions. The user will be able to start the live environment with default options or in safe graphics mode, directly start the installer, perform a system memory diagnostic test using the Memtest86+ utility, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk.
Lightweight desktop environment à la LXLE and LubuntuBeing based on LXLE, which in turn is based on Lubuntu, the distribution comes with the lightweight LXDE desktop environment, which comprises of a bottom panel and a hidden task bar on the left side of the screen. As usual, you’ll have to login before you can access the graphical desktop interface (no password is required).
LXLE with dozens of applicationsAs expected from a DBLab flavor, it includes at least twice as much applications than the original system on which is based does. Among some of the most popular apps, we can mention Darktable, RawTherapee, Fotoxx, Geary, Chromium, Mozilla Firefox, FileZilla, MyPaint and Audacious.
Bottom lineSumming up, DBLab LXLE Remix proves to be a low on resources and stable operating system that provides users with the same standards as LXDE, plus an extra layer of open source applications.
