It’s distributed as a Live DVD that supports mainstream architectures
Cultix is freely distributed as a single, dual-arch and hybrid Live DVD ISO image of approximately 1GB in size. It supports both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms, and can be easily deployed to either a DVD disc or USB thumb drive.
The Live DVD boots the live system automatically
The boot menu includes a single option that will start the live system automatically in 10 seconds, no matter what you do. There are no other options on the boot prompt.
Darkish graphical desktop environment powered by LXDE
As mentioned, LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) is in charge of the graphical environment inside Cultix, providing users with a traditional interface comprised of a single panel located on the upper side of the screen.
The panel is your only way to interact with the operating system. It allows you to navigate the software collection (see below for details), launch applications, interact with running programs or system tray functions, as well as to cycle between virtual workspaces.
Includes a minimal set of applications, despite the fact that is distributed as a Live DVD
The operating system includes a minimal set of open-source applications, despite the fact that is distributed as a Live DVD. Among these, we can mention the Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, XChat IRC client, Transmission torrent downloader, Midori web browser, OpenOffice.org office suite, Geany IDE, VLC Media Player, Xfburn CD/DVD burning software and GIMP image editor.
In addition, the Leafpad text editor, LXTerminal terminal emulator, Xarchiver archive manager, Guake terminal emulator, Geeqie image viewer, PCManFM file manager, XSane image scanner, Gigolo network browser, UNetbootin bootable USB creator and LXMusic audio player are also included.
