Clonezilla LiveCD is an open source and free Debian-based specialist Linux Live CD operating system that includes various powerful utilities, enabling users to clone the content of hard disks.
Clonezilla LiveCD is a minimalist Linux distribution, designed especially for hard drive cloning tasks. It supports the following flesystems: EXT2, EXT3, ReiserFS, XFS, JFS, FAT, and NTFS.
Unlike the G4U (Ghost for UNIX) or G4L (Ghost for Linux) projects, Clonezilla only uses blocks in hard disk drivers, which are saved and restored, increasing the efficiency of the entire cloning process.
LVM2 is also supported, as well as unicast and multicast in the PXEBoot version, which is suitalbe for massively clone tasks. Remote cloning of hard drives is also possible with Clonezilla.
The project is distributed as Live CD ISO images, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. PAE too!
- The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2013/Dec/03).
- Somehow the boot parameter "ip=frommedia" made Ubuntu-based Clonezilla live's vmlinuz boot slowly. Because "ip=" is accepted by live-boot with same function and it's shorter, use it.
- When creating recovery zip file, if image is included, use "-0", i.e., not to compress it.
- When a recovery iso/zip file is created, Clonezilla should honor the original splash mechanism.
