Calculate Linux Directory Server
Calculate Linux Directory Server is an open source Linux operating system that provides users with a Gentoo-based solution for interacting with both Linux and Windows clients via Samba and LDAP technologies. It is an official edition of the Calculate Linux operating system, a distribution based on the powerful and complex Gentoo Linux project.
Designed for experienced system administrators
It will allow experienced system administrators to easily and quickly deploy an email server, a Jabber server or a proxy server, with modern user management, in only a few minutes. The distribution provides various tools for remote administration and for creating backups of user profiles.
Distributed as 64-bit and 32-bit Live CDs
This edition is distributed as two Live CD ISO images that support both 64-bit and 32-bit architectures, as well as multiple languages, including English and Russian. The boot menu can be used to start the currently installed OS, test the system memory for errors, or copy the Live CD into RAM, ejecting the medium.
Comes pre-loaded with numerous server-oriented tools
Among the included server-oriented open source packages, we can mention BIND, which can be used to implement DNS (Domain Name System) protocols for the Internet, OpenLDAP, a free implementation of the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), as well as Postfix, a powerful and well-known mail server.
In addition to the above, the Calculate Linux Directory Server operating system also includes the robust, secure and high-performance FTP server ProFTPD, and the unique Samba open source implementation of the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol.
The Calculate Linux Directory Server distribution is designed to be used only by people who know their way around Linux servers. However, it can also be used as a good start for novice users who want to deploy a special server or to replace a Windows NT Server. The Calculate Linux Desktop (KDE and Xfce), Calculate Linux Scratch, Calculate Media Center, and Calculate Scratch Server editions are also provided.
