BuluoOS KDE is an open source distribution of Linux built around the modern and popular KDE desktop environment and based on the Linux From Scratch (LFS) project. It is an operating system designed from the ground up to be used by people from the Chinese Linux community.
Availability, supported platforms, supported languages and boot options
The KDE edition of the BuluoOS operating system is available for download as a single Live DVD ISO image that can be burned onto a blank DVD disc or deployed to a USB thumb drive. It supports only the 64-bit (x86_64) architecture, and uses the RPM Package Manager.
Being a Live CD type of distribution, it allows users to try it without installing anything on their computers. In addition, it includes a recovery mode, which lets users to rescue a broken system. Only the Chinese language is supported, but it easy to install support for additional languages (see the project's website for details).
Pure GNOME desktop experience, powerful applications
It comes with the latest version of the KDE desktop environment, as well as with popular applications like Linux kernel, systemd, Glibc library, Mesa 3D graphics library, Calligra office suite, VLC Media Player, and Mozilla Firefox web browser.
The KDE-powered desktop environment uses a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen and designed to be used for launching apps, interact with running programs and the system tray area, as well as to switch between virtual workspaces.
In conclusion, BuluoOS KDE is a nice Linux distribution that is built from scratch and provides users with a familiar and eye-candy graphical session, as well as a great selection of open source software packages. Unfortunately, it can only be used on high-end machines that support the 64-bit instruction set architecture. Do not hesitate to use the graphical installer provided on the desktop to install the OS on a local disk drive.
