Bluestar Linux Developer For Linux

Bluestar Linux Developer is an open source Linux distribution that provides built-in support for developing applications and writing code. It is derived from the lightweight and powerful Arch Linux operating system and built around the modern and sophisticated KDE Plasma desktop environment.

As expected, the system is distributed as Live DVD ISO images, deployable on either 32-bit or 64-bit computers. Users can use the operating system directly from the live media or install it on a disk drive using the built-in installer.

There are various options on the boot menu, one for starting the live system with normal configuration, two for running the live environment on machines with an Intel GMA3600 graphics card, the ability to boot an existing OS, a memory test and a tool to view hardware information. Keep in mind that you will need to use the “bslx” username with password “user” to access the live media. The root account uses the “admin” password.

As mentioned, KDE Plasma is in charge of the graphical session inside the Developer edition of Bluestar Linux. It provides users with a modern desktop experience and comprises of a two-panel layout, where the main panel is located on the upper part of the screen and the second panel is hidden by default, place on the bottom edge of the screen, as well as two useful desktop widgets.

Just like any other Bluestar Linux edition, this flavor comes pre-loaded with powerful applications, including the Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox web browsers, Blender 3D modeller, GIMP image editor, Asunder Audio-CD ripper, Synfig Studio, XMMS audio player, Mixx DJ interface, Calibre ebook library management, and the entire Calligra office suite.

This is an Arch Linux derived operating system, which means that it follows a rolling-release model that keeps your system up-to-date at all times, without forcing you to download an ISO image each time a brand-new release is available for download.
