A bloated, non-PAE and Open Source Live Linux distribution based on Bodhi Linux.. #Bodhi Linux #Linux distribution #Operating system #Bodhi #Bloated #Bloat
Bloat Bodhi is an open source operating system based on the Bodhi Linux distribution, which in turn is based on the world’s most popular free OS, Ubuntu Linux. It has been designed to act as a bloated, non-PAE edition of Bodhi, featuring the beautiful Enlightenment desktop environment.
This special Bodhi Linux operating system is distributed as a 32-bit non-PAE Live DVD ISO image of approximately 1GB in size, which must be deployed to either a DVD disc or USB flash drive of 2GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.
Being based on Ubuntu, the Live DVD uses a standard boot menu that is found on a plethora of Ubuntu-based operating systems. From there, the user can try the live environment without installing anything (using default drivers or the VESA framebuffer for better detection of graphics cards), boot an existing OS from the first disk, check the RAM for errors, or directly start the installer.
Before you can enter the graphical session, it is a must to select a profile to use. Default profiles include Bare, Compositing, Desktop, Fancy, Laptop/Netbook, Tablet and Tiling. The cool thing is that you can click on them to see a preview of the desktop layout. After choosing a profile, you must also select a theme. Each theme has its own wallpaper and setup.
Among some of the preinstalled applications, we can mention the Bluefish HTML editor, Geany IDE, Meld diff and merge tool, Mirage image viewer, Midori web browser, FileZilla file transfer client, XChat IRC client, Brasero and Xfburn CD/DVD burning utility, Rhythmbox music player, VLC Media Player, GDebi package installer, and the entire LibreOffice office suite.
Summing up, Bloat Bodhi is not really a bloated version of Bodhi Linux, as it proved to be quite a nice and stable operating system that includes just the right applications. Thanks to the Enlightenment desktop environment, it can be installed on a wide range of computer platforms, but it supports only 32-bit apps.
