Bayanihan Linux Desktop Edition For Linux

Bayanihan Linux Desktop Edition is an open source and complete desktop-oriented operating system that can be successfully used in schools and small or medium-sized businesses. It was initially based on Fedora and Red Hat Linux, but it’s now derived from the award-winning Debian GNU/Linux distribution.

The Desktop edition of Bayanihan Linux is distributed as Live and Installer CD ISO images. While the Installer CD includes software packages optimized only for the 32-bit (i686) architecture, the Live CD is dual-arch and can run on computers that support both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.

From the boot menu of the Live CD, the user can boot the live system in normal mode, with a default kernel, or in safe mode. It is possible to perform a complex system memory (RAM) diagnostic test.

The default and only graphical desktop environment of Bayanihan Linux Desktop Edition is based off of KDE. It looks familiar, easy to use and productive, comprised of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen and designed to allow you to easily launch apps and interact with opened programs.

When using Bayanihan Linux Desktop Edition, the uses will have full access to a great set of open-source applications, which includes a word processor, presentation software, spreadsheet program, an internet browser, a graphics editor and email facility.

Minimum hardware requirements for installing or running Bayanihan Linux Desktop Edition include a Pentium 1 or Pentium 2 processor, at least 128MB of RAM, at least 3GB free drive space, a monitor with at least SVGA resolution and standard mouse/keyboard devices.

If you plan to run the Bayanihan Linux Desktop Edition operating system on a 64-bit computer, the minimum hardware requirements include at least 1GHz 64-bit-capable processor (AMD64 or EM64T), at least 1GB of RAM, at least 5GB free drive space, a monitor with at least SVGA resolution, as well as standard mouse and keyboard peripherals.
