BackTrack Polish Edition
As its name suggests, BackTrack Polish Edition is a special, free and community derived edition of BackTrack, a Linux operating system specially crafted for security professional who want a secure development environment, for Polish-speaking users.
Distributed as Live DVDs for Nvidia, AMD and Intel users
The Polish edition of BackTrack Linux is distributed as three dual-arch Live DVD ISO image of approximately 3GB in size each, supporting Intel, Nvidia or AMD Radeon GPUs (Graphics Processing Units), as well as both 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i386) hardware platforms.
While the boot menu is translated in Polish, it allows users to start the live environment in text mode, in stealth mode, using the noDRM and debug modes, as well as to perform a system memory (RAM) diagnostic test.
GNOME Classic graphical desktop environment with a two-panel layout
Using the first boot option will drop users to a shell prompt, where they must use the “startx” command to access the graphical desktop environment, which is powered by GNOME and uses a classic two-panel layout.
Includes all the tools and applications that made the BackTrack Linux so popular over night
As expected, BackTrack Polish Edition includes all the tools and applications that made the BackTrack Linux so popular over night, which are well organized in categories and subcategories under the BackTrack menu entry.
In addition, the distribution includes various third-party penetration testing utilities and hacking/cracking tools that are not included in BackTrack, among which we can mention eHacking, jCracker, Medusa GUI, SQL Sentinel, WebSploit Toolkit, Phisherman and Sakis3G.
Summing up, the Polish Linux community has now an amazing and inestimable distribution of Linux for penetration testing operations. Keep in mind though, that BackTrack is no longer developed and new versions of the distribution reviewed here are based on Kali Linux.
