OpenCA OCSP Responder For Linux
An Open Source RFC 2560 compliant OCSPD responder for Linux, Windows and Mac systems. #OCSPD responder #RFC 2560 #OCSP clients #Ocsp #Client #Tfc
OpenCA OCSP Responder is a robust, open source, full-featured, free, out-of-the-box and platform-independent Certification Authority (CA) web-based software that implements some of the most popular protocols with full-strength cryptography. The software is also known as OpenCA PKI Development Project or simply OpenCA.
OpenCA OCSP Responder comes with a full-featured PKI (Public-key Infrastructure), a PRQP (PKI Resource Query Protocol) responder, an OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol) server, as well as support for multiple RA (Registration Authority) servers.
As its name suggests, this RFC 2560 compliant OCSPD responder is included into the main OpenCA software, and can be used to easily verify a certificate’s status. It can also be installed as a stand-alone daemon application.
To install and use the OpenCA software on your GNU/Linux operating system, you must download either the universal source tarball or a pre-built binary for the Fedora 19 distribution. If you don’t use Fedora or a similar distribution of Linux that uses the RPM package management system, we strongly suggest to use the source tarball for installation and follow the next instructions.
Download the archive and save it on your Home directory. Use an archive manager utility to extract it contents, open a terminal emulator and navigate to the location of the extracted archive files using the ‘cd’ command (e.g. cd /home/softpedia/openca-ocspd-3.1.0), then run the ‘./configure && make’ command to configure and compile the program, followed by the ‘sudo make install’ command to install it system wide.
Looking under the hood of the OpenCA project, we can notice that the Perl, JavaScript and C programming/scripting languages have been used to write it. Supported operating systems include GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.
