Hellphyze For Linux

Hellphyze is an open source and free graphical software implemented in Python/GTK+ and designed to act as a GUI (Graphical User Interface) front-end for the Telnet protocol under any GNU/Linux operating system.

In other words, with the Hellphyze application you will be able to easily and quickly access the Thomson TG582 and TG585 wireless routers via the Telnet protocol from the comfort of your Linux desktop environment.

For those of you who own a different brand/model of router, the Hellphyze’s user interface provides a "custom commands" field. You can always hack the source code and modify the default commands (Network Up, Network Down, Deny MAC, Allow MAC, and List Devices) to match your server/router.

Hellphyze is a very small project that doesn’t require installation. It also does not have an official release. To use it, simply download the latest source code from either Softpedia or the project’s GitHub page, save the archive on your Home directory and unpack it.

Open a terminal emulator application, go to the location where you’ve extracted the archive file (e.g. cd /home/softpedia/hellphyze-master - replace ‘softpedia’ with your username) and run the ‘python hellphyze.py’ command to start the application.

The interface is pretty intuitive. You must enter the host IP address of the router, the port, the username and the password. The application supports profiles, you can save this information and use it a later time with a single mouse click.

Then, you can send various commands to the router, such as to deny or allow a MAC address, to stop or start the network connection, to list devices, as well as to enter any other supported command in the custom commands field.
