SlackPkg 2.81

SlackPkg is an automated package-management tool for Slackware Linux.
Slackpkg is an automated package-management tool for Slackware Linux. SlackPkg can do tasks such as automatic downloading and installing or upgrading, browse the MANIFEST.gz (Slackware package-contents guide), and more.

Dependencies are not automatically handled. It is not a replacement for pkgtool, but a valuable add-on.

First of all, you need to download the "slackpkg" package. After that, install the slackpkg using the command installpkg.

After install, you need to select ONE (and only ONE) mirror for download packages from. Edit your /etc/slackpkg/mirrors and uncomment one of those lines, or include your own mirror. FTP and HTTP mirrors are supported at the moment.

With the mirror selected, type:

# slackpkg update

Slackpkg will download some important files and update all package *lists*. Ready to use slackpkg.

What's New in This Release:

This release was updated for compatibility with Slackware 12.1.
A small bug in package name handling that prevented the kernel-headers package from being upgraded was fixed.
This was corrected in slackpkg.conf.
