GNU Parted is an open source command-line software that can be used to resize, destroy, copy, create, and check hard disk (HDD) partitions, and the file systems on them.
GNU Parted is useful if you want to create free space for new operating systems, reorganize disk usage, as well as for copying data between hard disks and disk imaging.
The software supports the following disk labels: raw access (useful for LVM and RAID), Intel GPT partition tables, MS-DOS partition tables, MIPS partition tables, BSD and Sun disk labels, PC98 partition tables, and Macintosh partition maps.
Many GUI partitioning programs use the parted command to let users easily and quickly edit partition tables.
