VisualBoyAdvance Link is an open source, multiplatform and completely free graphical software project implemented in C++, a Linux clone of the VisualBoyAdvance Link application developed by denopqrihg for Microsoft Windows operating systems.
The software supports GBA and SP multiplayer, as well as up to 4 Gameboy emulators. It is a mix between VBA -M and VBALink, provides link cable emulation support, joystick support, and a “General Purpose" module that lets users play the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance game.
The GUI (Graphical User Interface) displays an image that represents a possible game after immediately selecting a set. Each game, once started, will have its configuration saved automatically.
Installing the VisualBoyAdvance Link application on a GNU/Linux operating system proves to be an easy task, but will require you to work in a terminal emulator. Download the latest version of the project from Softpedia, save the file somewhere on your computer, unpack it and open the Terminal app.
In the terminal emulator, navigate to the location of the extracted archive files using the ‘cd’ command (e.g. cd /home/softpedia/VisualBoyAdvance_Link-master), run the ‘sudo sh setup.sh’ command and follow the on-screen instructions to deploy VisualBoyAdvance Link.
After installation, you should be able to launch the program from the main menu of your desktop environment. The application will open and present users with a simple interface that allows them to select a game and play it, as well as to configure various useful settings. VisualBoyAdvance Link is translated in both English and French languages.
Taking a look under the hood of the VisualBoyAdvance Link application, we can notice that it has been written entirely in the C++ programming language, using Java, Eclipse and IcedTea technologies for its graphical user interface (GUI).
The software should work on all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as on the Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows OSes, or any other operating system where the latest Java Runtime Environment technology is installed. Both 64-bit and 32-bit architectures are supported at this time.
