Zumastor 0.8

Zumastor istorage project adds enterprise storage features to Linux, primarily improved snapshots and remote replication.
Zumastor is a storage project that adds enterprise storage features to Linux, primarily improved snapshots and remote replication. Point-in-time, near zero-cost, block level snapshots can be added to any existing filesystem and performance does not degrade with multiple snapshots. Remote replication is achieved by sending minimal block level deltas between snapshots without having to traverse the entire filesystem like rsync does.

Here are some key features of "Zumastor":

Point-in-time Snapshots
Adds snapshotting to any Linux filesystem, without re-formatting (ext3, xfs, reiser, etc)
Near-zero-cost, atomic block-device snapshots
Copy-on-write, sharing common data between multiple snapshots
Performance does not degrade with multiple snapshots
Provided via ddsnap kernel driver and userspace ddsnap_server daemon
Remote replication
Transmits delta between snapshots
Optional zlib (gzip) compression
Optional xdelta binary difference compression (experimental)
Simple command line interface - zumastor script
Integration with kerberized NFS kernel server to support exporting a replicated volume with snapshot rollover.

What's New in This Release:
