imap2mbox 1.5.0

Export your remote IMAP4 folders to local "mbox" file
imap2mbox can be very useful if you need to save your remote mailboxes.

Developer comments

I have created this simple utility because i want to backup my IMAP4 mailbox (due to a domain transfer). Looking on the net, i'm unable to find something suitable for my needs so i take my IDE and start writing some Python code that help me doing that.

imap2mbox simply connects to remote IMAP4 server and recursively saves all directories (and related messages) to mbox files. After, you can use MHonarc to create an HTML archive ready to be burned into CDs !

Usage:

imap2mbox [host] -p [port (default:143)] -u [username] -w [password] -f [filter (default='*')] -o [ouputdir (default=.)] -t

Mandatory:

-u username for auth
-w password for auth

Optional:

-p port if not standard 143
-f folder that you want to get: '*' means all, 'INBOX*' means 'INBOX', 'INBOX 2007', 'INBOX OLD' but *not* 'OLD INBOX' (for that, you need to use '*INBOX*')
-o output dir for mbox(es) - default: .
-s use SSL
-r do not mark as read retrieved messages
