    DACT description

    DACT is a compression tool designed to compress a file dynamically.

    DACT is a compression tool designed to compress a file dynamically, choosing the algorithm that works best per block of input data to produce an overall smaller output file.

    DACT attempts to create very efficient compressed files by attempting to use many different algorithms on each block until it finds the best for every block in the file. It also supports many advanced features, such as:

    · Network access
    · Encryption
    · Automatic upgrade
    · Modular components

    DACT also includes encryption and transparent access to files located on FTP and HTTP servers.

    Installation:

    $ ./configure
    $ make
    $ su
    $ make install (note, the default installation location is /usr/local, make sure you have proper privileges to write there.)

    What's New in This Release:

    · Moved LZO-* out of DEBUG.
