    Tiny Password Generator description

Tiny Password Generator project is a small but powerful password generator.

Tiny Password Generator project is a small but powerful password generator.

It can create passwords including/excluding numbers, uppercase/lowercase/special characters, and optionally even more secure (hard to remember) passwords.

Furthermore, ambiguous characters like 0('zero') vs. O(letter 'O') and 1('one') vs. l(letter 'l') can be avoided. The password can be copied to the clipboard, manually or even automatically.

    Background:

I couldn't find a small password generator for my everyday use under KDE, only a few outdated projects without a package for my system. At least, there was a command line tool "pwgen", but I wanted a GUI.

Therefore, I decided to build this kommander wrapper GUI for the pwgen utility. Hope you find it as useful as I do.

    Requirements:

    · Kommander
    · pwgen

With (K)Ubuntu, the installer takes care of the installation of these packages if they are missing. For other Systems, use your Distro's Software Manager (e.g. yast for SuSE).

    Installation:

Extract the tarball, open a konsole (F4 in Konqueror) and type:

    sudo ./install.sh

Then enter your user password. The installer creates a new KDE Menu Entry under Utilities. (If you are not in the sudoers group, you must start ./install.sh from a root shell.)

If you ever want to update or remove this program, just call the installer again. It will give you suitable options.
