SecPod Saner Review by
4.0/5

SecPod Saner is a freely distributed graphical application that has been designed from the offset to protect your GNU/Linux or Microsoft Windows PC from all sorts of threats, including spyware, bots, malicious scripts, and any other type of malware.

It is a very simple piece of software that does not need very much configuration and runs every time your computer starts, requiring root/administrative privileges at all times. SecPod Saner can also be used to clean infected systems.

Key features of SecPod Saner include the ability to identify vulnerabilities in the operating system or specific applications, support for detecting common misconfigurations, as well as the support for elimating threats by repairing misconfigurations and patching vulnerabilities in real-time.

When compared with anti-malware products, SecPod Saner promises to offer an enterprise-grade security solution that is both easy to use and lightweight. It is designed for securing personal computers and proactively assessing them. The software is not based on a known malware signatures database.

SecPod Saner runs in the foreground, not in the background and inform you about what it does in real-time, all the time. There are no hidden functions, and it is capable of identifying misconfigurations and/or security loopholes, which will be automatically fixed to ensure that the system is secure.

On a GNU/Linux system, the software will display the results of both the vulnerability and compliance scans, where you can see the current status of scanned assets and number of possible risks. On the main window, a cure Panda bear will tell you the current state of your PC.

From the preferences section of the program, users will be able to select the scan mode and type, change the default location of the definition's cache directory, schedule scans and definition updates, set a proxy, change the default language, and set numerous remediation options.

The good news is that the SecPod Saner software is currently supported on numerous GNU/Linux distributions that use either the DEB or RPM package management systems, including Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, Oracle Linux, Fedora, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit computers.
