Trumpeter is a stand-alone server that integrates RT (Request Tracker) with an XMPP chat server (used by Jabber, Google Talk, Pidgin, etc.). It regularly queries RT, and posts notification messages in chat rooms based on a configurable set of rules.
It is in an early stage of development, but is still quite useful. We use it internally at FreeCode to get instant notifications when new tickets are created, warning messages two work hours before the due time, and a more serious warning when we get past the due time.
We are running it internally on RT 3.6, but I have tested it briefly on 3.8 as well.
Trumpeter is written in Java, and uses the Smack API to communicate with an XMPP server.
