    Okapi Framework description

A set of building blocks for the creation of localization and translation tools

The Okapi Framework is a set of interface specifications, object models, components and applications that provides an environment to build interoperable tools for the translation and localization of documents and software.
The goal of the Okapi Framework is to allow tools developers and localizers to build new localization processes or enhance existing ones to best meet their needs, while preserving compatibility and interoperability. It also provides them with a way to share (and re-use) components across different solutions. The project uses and promotes open standards, when they exist.

    · The Okapi Framework is now distributed as two packages: okapi-lib, for developers, which includes all the libraries but not UI parts, and okapi-apps, which includes the same files with the UI parts and several applications such as Rainbow and Ratel.
    · Tikal is a new tool to perform simple localization-related tasks like extraction and merging of different file formats to XLIFF.
    · A new Qt TS filter has been added. A new connector for Translate Toolkit TM has been added.
