ScummVM is a multi-platform and open-source software project that has been designed from the ground up to act as an interpreter for numerous classic point-and-click adventure games.

It has been engineered to replace the original executables of the games

The program has been engineered in such a way that it automatically replace the executables distributed along with the games, allowing the user to play them on a wide range of operating systems. It’s translated in multiple languages.

Supports a plethora of highly acclaimed games

ScummVM is well known for supporting a wide range of highly acclaimed games, among which we can mention Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2, Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and 2, Flight of the Amazon Queen, as well as Monkey Island 1, 2 and 3.

In addition, the Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Discworld 1 and 2, Lure of the Temptress, The Legend of Kyrandia 1, 2 and 3, Gobliiins 1, 2 and 3, Freddi Fish, The Neverhood, Mortville Manor, Voyeur, Return to Ringworld, Chivalry is Not Dead and Putt Putt games are also supported.

Supports numerous SCUMM games

ScummVM’s name can be easily translated to SCUMM Virtual Machine. It supports numerous SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) games from well known publishers, such as LucasArts, Sierra or Humongous Entertainment.

You need the original data files to play the games

The application doesn’t feature a graphical user interface, runs only on command-line and requires the original data files of the games in order to work properly and allow you to play those games.

Supports a wide range of operating systems

ScummVM is a cross-platform software written entirely in the C++ programming language, which means that it will successfully run on the GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating sytems. Both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are supported at this time.
