autorevision is an open source command-line tool that extracts metadata about the current revision of your software repository.

autorevision supports the following repository types: Git, Mercurial, Bazaar and Subversion. It is able to create files that contain macro and variable definitions for C++, C, Java, Python, sh, Perl, Lua, PHP and JavaScript.
