Features at a glance
Among its features, we can mention data channels, guaranteed delivery, transaction aware functionality, centralized configuration, multiple deployment options, data filtering and rerouting, HTTP transport, payload compression, and notification schemes.
In addition it supports symmetric data protocol, plug-in APIs, two-way table synchronization, database versioning, auto database creation, embeddable multiple schemas, primary key updates, remote management, remote database administration, and initial data load.
Supports a wide range of database engines
The application supports numerous well known database engines, such as MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Firebird, SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server Azure, Informix, HSQLDB, H2, Interbase, Greenplum, and Apache Derby.
The program has been engineered in such a way that it supports multiple subscribers with bi-directional or one direction asynchronous data replication, scales for a multiple databases at the same time, works very well on low-bandwidth network connections.
Besides multi-master database replication, the application can be used to make filtered synchronizations or transformations across the network in a wide range of environments. The synchronization functionality can be used to pull or push data on a specific time or date.
Can be deployed as a web app
It allows users to synchronize data between two or more tiers of nodes, and can be used in various regional servers, Point of Sale (POS) register nodes, or thousands of store server nodes. Additionally, it can capture data changes and preserves atomicity thanks to database triggers. In addition, the software can be easily deployed as a web application archive (WAR) running on well known application servers like Apache Tomcat, JBoss or Jetty, as a standalone service, or embedded in any other program.
It is one of the best multi-master database replication software available on the Linux platform. A commercial version, called SymmetricDS Pro, is available for purchase on the project’s website.
