Grism is an open source stock market observation tool. It allows you to easily track the evolution of stock prices through watchlists, portfolios and charts.

Grism uses Yahoo! Finance for its quote data. This means that with Grism, you can observe stocks, ETFs, indices and mutual funds from every major stock market in the world. All you need is the stock's symbol that interests you.

Here are some key features of "Grism":

General

� Global view of all watchlists and portfolios with daily and overall totals. � Refresh all watchlists and portfolios with one click. � "State" of the GUI (window size, folders tree width, expansion and selection) saved between runs.

Watchlists

� Unlimited number of watchlists. � Unlimited number of stocks allowed in a watchlist. � Daily and overall total for each watchlist. � Each entry has a "watch start" price on which change calculations are based. � Many of the columns are editable to easily visualize and explore possible price evolutions. � Price and ratio views. � Individual entries can be stared/marked as important. � Make comments on each entry. � Copy or move stocks from one watchlist to another. � Apply a stock split.

Portfolios

� Unlimited number of portfolios. � Unlimited number of stocks allowed in a portfolios. � Daily and overall total for each portfolios. � Each entry has a buy price and a number of shares which are the basis for gain/loss calculations. � Entries can be short or long positions. � Many of the columns are editable to easily visualize and explore possible price evolutions. � A "Total" line shows the overall performance of this portfolio including monetary gain/loss. � Configurable "Cash" line allows the tracking of the total value of the portfolio over time. � Make comments on each entry. � Copy or move stocks from one portfolio to another. � Apply a stock split.

Charts

� Dynamic, historical and fast daily price charts. � Linear, line charts. � Export any chart to an image (PNG) file.

Requirements:

� Ruby � GTK2 (2.8 or later) � ruby-gtk2 (0.14.0 or later, including libglade)

Untar the archive. Change to the directory where Grism was unpacked. In Grism's directory, open a terminal and type:

% ruby setup.rb

What's New in This Release:

� Network connection options including proxy support. Proxy support is limited to unauthenticating and basic authentication. For NTLM authentication, we suggest using the NTPMaps. � Historical view of portfolio activity. Allows you to automatically keep a list buy/sells/cash/etc in a portfolio. � Modify a stock's symbol. Accessible from the "Stock" menu. � Debian/Ubuntu .deb installation file (Thanks to Fede!).
