dvbyell is a streaming solution for DVB(-S/-C/-T). dvbyell project will read streams from Linux DVB devices (/dev/dvb/*) and send them to the network using UDP multicast. This kind of software is often referred to as "DVB to IP gateway" or "IPTV server".

Please note that dvbyell does not do on-demand channel switching. It is designed to stream a fixed set of programs. This is usually what's required in a larger network where people expect a certain number of programs and don't care if Japanese bible TV isn't available.

Requirements:

DVB budget boards (or more exactly, DVB boards which give access to the complete, unaltered transport stream)
To stream a single DVB transponder, even a 300 MHz class system with a 100 MBit/s network card should work; however, I have not verified this, so reports are welcome
To stream all the programs of 4 transponders on Astra 19.2E, a Pentium III/800 MHz/256 MB RAM/Gigabit NIC system works for me
A multicast capable network, see multicast.txt
