An easy-to-use and Open Source graphical utility for browsing and viewing Twitch.tv streams. #Twitch.tv browser #Browse Twitch.tv #Twitch.tv stream #Twitch.tv #Browser #Stream
TwitchBrowser is a simple, fast, free, small and open source graphical application that offers a minimal design for easy browsing of video streams published on the popular Twitch.tv live streaming platform.
It is a desktop application that allows Linux users to only browse Twitch.tv video streams. To watch the streams on their GNU/Linux desktops, users will have to use a modern video player, such as VLC Media Player, MPlayer or MPV.
To use TwitchBrowser, first download and save the source package from Softpedia using the dedicated download section above, extract the zip archive, open the extracted directory, fire up the Terminal app, and run the ‘python twitchbrowser.py’ command.
The app uses tabs to organize video streams in Featured, Following and Games sections. A reload button is placed above the tabs in the left side of the window, so you can easily reload streams. The app menu is located on the right side of the window.
The application uses the Livestreamer command-line software to start the streams. It also requires the PyGTK library for its graphical user interface. See the “Under the Hood” section for requirements.
Taking a look under the hood of the TwitchBrowser program, we can notice that it has been written entirely in Python programming language, it requires the PyGTK library and Livestreamer command-line software. It’s graphical user interface has been designed in Glade around the GTK+ GUI toolkit.
