dispcalGUI is an open source, multiplatform and free graphical software implemented in Python through the wxWidgets framework, designed from the offset to provide a GUI (Graphical User Interface) front-end for Argyll CMS, an ICC compatible color management system.
Key features include display calibration, display profiling, curve viewer, profile verification, and a test chart editor. The software supports colorimeter correction, custom CGATS files, multi-display setups, creation of look-up-table and matrix ICC profiles, customization of whitepoint, black level, luminance, and tone, as well as many hardware sensors.
The program’s graphical user interface is simple, easy-to-use and straightforward, which means that it will immediately and automatically recognize your display device(s), as well as instrument/port.
Users will be able to choose a mode for the display (LCD, CRT, etc.), set various calibration settings, such as native or custom temperature, maximal or custom white level, minimal or custom black level, tone curve, ambient light level, black output offset, black point correction and quality.
You will also be able to set various profiling settings, such as to load a testchart file, chose a quality and profile type, as well as to set a profile name. The user interface is translated in multiple languages and includes various extra functionality for you to discover.
As mentioned, the program is written entirely in the Python programming language and uses the wxWidgets GUI toolkit for its graphical user interface, which means that it is fully compatible with all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as with the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.
