Xcur2png is a command-line tool that lets you take PNG images from X cursor files, and generate a config-file which is reusable by xcursorgen.
You can modify existing X cursor by using xcur2png with xcursorgen.

1. Show hidden cursor in GNOME Appearance Preferences.
