This project aims to provide a cool and handy screenshot utility for your Linux box. #Screenshot utility #Take screenshot #Desktop screenshot #Screenshot #Screencap #Capture
Pshot is an open source, easy-to-use, simple and fast screenshot utility, a graphical software implemented in Python and designed from the ground up to be used on any GNU/Linux operating system. It looks like the KSnapshot utility from the KDE desktop environment.
The software allows users to take screenshots of their entire desktop, a selected area, or of a single window. The ability to delay the screenshot process is also implemented in the GUI (Graphical User Interface). The software lets you to easily and quickly modify the width and height of the screenshot before it is saved.
Another interesting feature is the ability to send screenshots to an external application, saving you a lot of time if you want to process the images a little bit before posting them on a web page. It supports many popular image editor/viewer apps, including GIMP, Pinta, Shotwell, Viewnior, gThumb, Gwenview, Okular, MyPaint, Mirage, and F-Spot.
Taking a look under the hood of the Pshot application, we can notice that it has been written entirely in the Python programming language. While Pshot is officially supported under the Arch Linux operating system (run the ‘yaourt -S pshot-git’ command to install it from AUR), it will work on any other Linux kernel-based operating system.
Like many other screenshot tools out there, Pshot relies on some command-line programs, such as the well known scrot screenshot software. It also requires the powerful ImageMagick software, as well as version 2 of the Python framework, as well as the python2-gobject, webkitgtk and pywebkitgtk module. Both 64-bit and 32-bit architectures are supported at this time.
