MihPhoto is an open source, multiplatform and free graphical application implemented in Qt and designed from the offset to act as a simple image viewer that is touchscreen-friendly and has an intuitive interface.
The software was crafted with touchscreens in mind, so it is mostly useful if you have a touchscreen. To use it, just open an image; then you can use a swipe gesture to browse trough all the images located in the same folder as the first one.
To install and use the MihPhoto application on your GNU/Linux operating system, you must first download the latest version from Softpedia, using the dedicated download button you see above, where it is distributed as a tarball (TGZ archive).
Save the archive somewhere on your computer, extract its contents with an archive manager utility, and open a terminal emulator tool to navigate to the location of the extracted archive files using the ‘cd’ command (e.g. cd /home/softpedia/MihPhoto).
Then, navigate to the dev folder (e.g. cd /dev), run either of the ‘qmake-qt4’ or ‘qmake’ commands to configure the program (depending on your Qt installation), followed by the ‘make’ command to compile MihPhoto.
Finally, execute either of the ‘sudo make install’ or ‘make install’ commands, depending if you are a user with root privileges or root, to install the application system wide and make it available to all users on your GNU/Linux machine. Fire up MihPhoto from the main menu of your desktop environment.
Taking a look under the hood of MihPhoto, we can notice that the project has been written entirely in the C++ programming language and uses the Qt GUI toolkit for its graphical user interface.
Being written in Qt, MihPhoto has been easily ported to the Symbian mobile operating system. The application supports the GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows computer operating systems. It has been successfully tested on 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.
