Eye of GNOME Plugins
Eye of GNOME Plugins is an open source and freely distributed package that contains an ever growing collection of plugins for the Eye of GNOME application, the default image viewer tool of the powerful and controversial GNOME graphcal desktop environment.
What plugins are included?
Among the plugins included in the Eye of GNOME Plugins package, we can mention Map, Exif Display, Export to Folder, Fit to Width, Fullscreen Background, Hide Titlebar, Light Theme, Postasa, Postr, Python console, Send by Mail, and Slideshow Shuffle.
What can I do with this plugins?
All of the aforementioned plugins will appear on the Eye of GNOME application when it is installed. The Exif Display plugin will allow you to view EXIF information of images, the Light Theme will “dress” the Eye of GNOME application with a lightweight theme, the Hide Titlebar plugin will allow you to hide the app’s titlebar when viewing photos, and the Slideshow Shuffle extension will automatically shuffle images viewed as slideshow.
In addition, the Python console plugin will provide both developers and end-users with a terminal window to execute Python commands in order to modifiy images, the Send by Mail plugin allows you to send photos by mail as attachments, the Export to Folder add-on lets you to export selected images to a specific folder, the Postr plugin allows you to post images to Flickr and the Postasa extension enables users to post images to Picasa.
What is Eye of GNOME?
Eye of GNOME is an open source and totally free graphical application written in GTK+ and designed to act as the default image viewer for the GNOME desktop environment, with which it’s distributed. The software includes numerous attractive features and a plugin architecture that uses the plugins found in the package reviewed here and listed in the section above.
