libgpod is an open source and shared library software, designed as part of the gtkpod graphical application, that can be used to access the contents of an Apple iPod music device.

The source code of the libgpod library has been extracted from the gtkpod application, and injected into its own library, so that other projects can benefit from its functionality without the need to duplicate the code.

The libgpod library supports playlists, playcounts, smart playlists, skipcounts, podcasts, cover art and ratings. It also supports, audio, video, as well as photos.
