    Amarok_XML_LCD description

Display Amarok's data on an LCD screen

Amarok_XML_LCD is an Amarok script written in Ruby that enables data from Amarok to be displayed on an LCD screen using LCDproc, the LCD daemon. More information on LCDproc can be found at:http://lcdproc.omnipotent.net

The script initialises several different screens that represent different states of the Amarok engine and displays these screens on the LCD. Each of the screens are fully user configurable; using a simple XML configuration file the user can add new widgets of their choice.

Along with widgets the user also has access to a host of Amarok DCOP commands that allow data to be retrieved from the Amarok engine.

    Installation:

Installation of the script is extremely simple, you do not even need to extract the .tar file.

Open up Amarok, on the menu bar click 'Tools' -> 'Script Manager', select 'Install Script' and locate the saved .tar.gz file, click the 'Open' button.

The script should now be installed and should be visible in the list of installed scripts...

    Installation complete.

    Quick Start

For the impatient out there, there are a few pre-set XML configuration files for some standard sizes of LC display. Provided your display is one of these you can simply rename the relevant XML configuration file to Amarok_XML_LCD.xml and start up the script.

Once the script starts the user should be greeted with the start screen, depending on the current state of the Amarok player, this start screen will give way to one of the other state screens, e.g. the playing screen if Amarok is playing a track.

For those not satisfied with the pre-configured XML files, I suggest you have ago at editing your own XML configuration file; check out the helpfile: Amarok_XML_LCD.html for information on setting up screens.
