LilyKDE is a set of tools to integrate the very fine LilyPond music typesetter into KDE.
How to Install:
Install Kate and KPDF (from KDE 3.5.x), Python, PyKDE, PyQt and Pt. If possible use the tools of your operating system to install these prerequisites.
Then unzip lilykde and type 'make install'. This installs LilyKDE in your home directory. You may look at the Makefile and the README for other install options.
Next launch Kate and enable the Pate plugin, which enables Kate to use Python plugins. With Pate enabled, select Settings->Configure Python Plugins and enable LilyPond.
Now, when editing a LilyPond file, press Ctrl+Shift+M to get a preview (with clickable notes), or Ctrl+Shift+P to get a publishable PDF (without clickable notes but much smaller).
Here are some key features of "LilyKDE":
· a Kate plugin that can run LilyPond for you, embedding a PDF preview right into Kate and other nice things.
· A textedit service so you can click on the notes in the preview (or any other PDF viewer) and have Kate jump to the correct position
· Powerful LilyPond syntax highlighting (already part of KDE)
· An icon and mimetype for .ly files
