Availability, boot options and supported architectures
The distribution can be downloaded from our website as a single Live DVD ISO image that can be burned onto a blank DVD disc using any CD/DVD burning software or written on a USB thumb drive of 2GB or higher capacity using the Disks or UNetbootin apps.
The simple and familiar boot loader will allow the user to start the live session with default options or in safe graphics mode using the VESA framebuffer, run a system memory (RAM) test, boot an existing OS from the first disk, as well as to install the operating system without testing it (not recommended).
Apparently, is seams that the distribution was previously known as WulfPackLive, as the name appears on both the boot manager and the graphical installer shortcut placed on the desktop.
Beautifully crafted Xfce desktop environment with two docks
As mentioned, this Xubuntu-based OS uses the Xfce desktop environment, but highly customized with two docks and a minimal panel. While the bottom dock is used for launching applications, the other dock, which is located on the right side of the screen, is used as some sort of a sophisticated system tray area.
A traditional system area is also provided on the upper right part of the screen through a standard, yet minimal panel from where users can access the system volume, two different calendars, language switcher, Bluetooth, and other functions.
Among the preinstalled applications, we can mention Skype VoIP client, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, Pidgin instant messenger, TeamViewer remote control system, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Audacious audio player, K3b CD/DVD/BD burning utility, and VLC Media Player.
Summing up, emmbux is a decent operating system that uses the lightweight Xfce desktop environment with a futuristic layout suitable for old and semi-old machines. Support for English language can be added after installation.
