Yoper LXDE For Linux

As its name suggests, Yoper LXDE is a special edition of the independent Yoper Linux operating system built around the lightweight LXDE graphical desktop environment.

The LXDE edition of Yoper is distributed as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image, suitable for old computers with a 32-bit processor or modern 64-bit machines. The user must burn the ISO image onto a CD disc or write it to a USB flash drive in order to boot it from the BIOS of a PC.

The Live CD boots automatically into a text-mode screen, where you can choose to start the live session, perform a fresh installation using a lean dialog interface or reboot the computer. Pressing the ESC key when the Live CD attempts to boot the operating system will reveal the boot menu.

The LXDE flavor of Yoper is perfect for old computers, as the graphical interface provides users with a traditional and familiar environment that is easy to use and runs extremely fast. It comprises of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen.

Being designed to be as low on resources as possible, Yoper LXDE comes pre-loaded with lightweight applications. Among these, we can mention the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Leafpad text editor, Xarchiver archive manager, GIMP image editor, Inkscape vector graphics editor, PCManFM file manager, AbiWord word processor, LXTerminal terminal emulator and Gnumeric spreadsheet editor.

Be aware that the Yoper Linux operating system is no longer under active development, which means that it won’t receive software updates and security patches anymore. It has been archived for historical references purposes only.
