An unofficial remix of the Xubuntu Linux operating system, featuring the Xfce desktop environment. #Xubuntu Linux #Xubuntu Remastered #Xfce desktop #Xubuntu #Remix #Remastered
Xubuntu Remix is a freely distributed and open source operating system that provides users with an astonishing distribution of Linux based on Canonical's Xubuntu project and built around the lightweight Xfce desktop environment.
The operating system is available for download as a single Live DVD ISO images of approximately 1.5GB in size. It can be burned to a CD disc using any CD/DVD burning software or written to a USB flash drive using the UNetbootin or Disks (GNOME) apps.
The boot menu is identical with the one of the Ubuntu Remix operating system created by the same developer, allowing users to boot the live environment with default settings or in safe graphics mode using the VESA framebuffer.
It is possible to run a diagnostic test against your computer's memory (RAM), boot an existing operating system that is installed on the first disk drive, as well as to directly install the distribution, without testing it, which is not recommended for novice users.
As mentioned, the Xfce desktop environment is greatly tweaked and customized to offer a pleasant and traditional graphical session comprised of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where users can access the main menu, launch apps, and interact with running programs.
Default applications include the Gedit and Mousepad text editors, Blender 3D graphics rendering software, GIMP and Pinta image editor, LibreOffice office suite, Shotwell image viewer and organizer, Audacity audio editor, Banshee music player, as well as the GNOME MPlayer video player.
It includes the LMMS music studio suite, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Pidgin instant messenger, Skype VoIP client, TeamViewer remote control software, Transmission torrent downloader, XChat IRC client, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, and Steam for Linux client.
In conclusion, Xubuntu Remix is a really great operating system that should be used by anyone who wants to install the Xubuntu distribution on their computers. Also, please take a look at the Ubuntu Remix operating system.
