JustinBieberLinux is an open source distribution of Linux based on the minimalistic Puppy Linux operating system and built around a highly customized version of the lightweight Openbox window manager. Its target audience are, of course, Justin Bieber fans.
Distributed as a bootable Live DVD
It is distributed as a single Live CD ISO image that can be written to a blank CD disc using a CD/DVD burning software, or a USB thumb drive using the UNetbootin application. Only the 32-bit (i686) architecture is supported at this time.
When booting for the live medium, you will be able to press the F2 or F3 keys in case you need particular boot options. If not, all you have to do is to way 5 seconds for the Live CD to start. The entire live environment will be copied to RAM (system memory), allowing users to eject the boot medium immediately after the desktop session has been completely loaded.
Uses a customized Openbox window manager
Users will be prompted to configure the graphical desktop by setting a hostname, choose your preferred language and timezone, activate the Num Lock, select a keyboard layout, set the hardware clock to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), and change the screen resolution.
As mentioned, the distribution comes with a custom Openbox window manager as the default and only desktop environment. It’s comprised of a beautiful dark theme and a transparent taskbar splitted into five virtual workspaces and the system tray area.
Default applications include the Midori web browser, ROX-Filer file manager, GNOME MPlayer video player, Geany text editor and IDE, Transmission torrent downloader, mtPaint image editor and digital painting software, Pburn CD/DVD burning utility, AbiWord word processor, and Gnumeric spreadsheet editor.
Besides the fact that it uses a custom boot screen and a default wallpaper, as well as three more other backgrounds with Justin Bieber, the operating system is quite OK. It runs very well on a low-end machine and it’s based on Lucid Puppy.
