A Debian-based GNU/Linux computer operating system designed for creative people.. #Future Studio #Debian Linux #Linux for creative people #Multimedia #Debian #Distribution
Future Studio OS is a free computer operating system derived from the highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux distribution, based on a low-latency Linux kernel, and built around a highly customized version of the KDE desktop environment. It is an OS tailored specifically for creative people who want an open-source operating system for creating all sorts of multimedia content.
The distro is available for download for free from Softpedia as a Live DVD ISO image that has a little over 2 GB in size and contains software packages that are optimized only for 64-bit computer platforms. The ISO image is hybrid and can be deployed to either a DVD disc or a USB flash drive of 4GB or higher capacity.
A number of advanced boot options are offered on the Live DVD, which will be displayed immediately after the user boot the bootable medium from the BIOS of a PC. Among these, we can mention the ability to start the live system with default options, in text-mode, without modeset, by copying the content of the bootable medium to RAM, or without probe.
You will be able to boot another GNU/Linux OS with UnionFS, perform a memory test or boot from the local disk drive. Keep in mind though that the username for the Live DVD is ‘future’ and the password is ‘user’ - these credential will be required at the login prompt. Also, the root account has the ‘user’ password.
As mentioned, the operating system is built around the KDE desktop environment, which has been greatly customized with a dock (application launcher) located on the upper part of the screen, as well as an attractive clock widget on the desktop.
It includes numerous multimedia related applications, among which we can mention Blender, GIMP, Inkscape, digiKam, Audacity, Mixxx, Qtractor, Rosegarden, MuSE, Hydrogen, Audacious, JuK, SMPlayer, VLC Media Player, Kdenlive, K3b, OpenShot, RecordMyDesktop, and many more.
The developer of Future Studio OS recommends installing the distribution on computers that have an Intel or AMD 64-bit processor, at least 1GB of RAM (4GB are recommended), a compatible Nvidia, AMD, Intel, SiS or Matrox graphics card, an ALSA supported sound card, as well as at least 20GB or free disk space.
