A minimal and bootable Linux kernel-based operating system for Python developers. #Enlisy Linux #Linux distribution #Live CD #Enlisy #LiveCD #Linux
As its name suggests, Enlisy Live is an open source Live Linux operating system based on the Enlisy distribution, which has been designed from the ground up with simplicity and minimalism in mind for advanced users and Python programmers. The Live edition of Enlisy is built around the lightweight Xfce graphical desktop environment.
The Live edition of Enlisy is distributed as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that has been engineered to run on computers supporting either of the 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures. It is a hybrid ISO image, writable on CD discs or USB drives.
From the Live CD boot menu, the user can start the live system with or without a graphical login interface, as well as to perform a throughput system memory (RAM) diagnostic test. Each of the aforementioned boot options are editable.
The default desktop environment of Enlisy Live is Xfce. It uses a standard layout comprised of a top panel and a bottom dock (application launcher). Keep in mind though, that you will have to use the “root” username and “root” password (without quotes) at the login prompt.
Being designed from the offset to be as minimal and simple as possible, the distribution includes only the tools you need as a Python developer. It comes pre-loaded with a minimal set of apps. Among these, we can mention the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Thunar file manager, Bulk Rename batch file renaming utility, Mousepad text editor and Xfce Terminal terminal emulator. The SuperTux arcade game is also included for those who want to have some fun!
