PineFruit OS (formerly Cubicle OS) is a totally free operating system created with the SUSE Studio tool, which means that it uses the latest stable base of the openSUSE Linux distribution. It features the modern GNOME desktop environment and powerful open source applications.

First of all, we should mention that the distribution will only run 32-bit software packages, even tough it is supported on 64-bit hardware platforms. It can be downloaded as a single Live DVD ISO image of approximately 1.2GB in size, which means that the user must burn it on a DVD disc or write it on a USB thumb drive of 2GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a PC.

Being based on openSUSE and created with the SUSE Studio tool, PineFruit OS' Live DVD features a standard boot menu that allows the user to start the live environment with default options or in failsafe mode, boot an existing operating system from the first drive, as well as to perform a memory diagnostic test.
