Christ OS For Linux

Christ OS is a Linux operating system based on openSUSE 13.2 and which uses the KDE desktop environment. It's an operating system aimed at users that want to have various tools handy for Bible study. It's not the only one of its kind out there, but it's one of the few that uses openSUSE as a base.

As you would expect from a system based on openSUSE, the operating system is pretty easy to use and boots up fairly quickly. It comes with a number of regular apps, like the an Internet browser, a bittorrent client, the LibreOffice suit. It's created with the Suse Studio, so it's not all that different from what the base system. The main feature of the OS is that it comes with a number of specific apps such as Openlp, Bibletime, and a few others that are not usually integrated by default.

Christ OS is distributed only with 32-bit images and there are no 64-bit ISO images. Users can easily run the operating system in a virtual environment and they can also test it as a Live CD. The option to install the operating system in present at boot and inside the OS.

Because Christ OS is using an almost vanilla version of openSUSE 13.2, it also means that it's sporting the old KDE SC 4.x branch, which has been discontinued a while back. It's also worth pointing out that the system also comes with an older version of Wine pre-installed, which should help new users to run some Windows apps.

The only conclusion is that Christ OS is not really worth your time. If you want something that is geared toward Bible study you could give it a try, but please try to remember that you can just install openSUSE and the rest of the apps yourself. Also, the system does have some issues and the Dolphin file manager refuses to start, although it could be a problem with the testing PC.
