Status-Bar Custom Buttons is an add-on that allows you to place your own defined buttons on the status-bar of Mozilla-based applications and addons. A few buttons are provided as examples.
Note that for each sample button to work you need to have that respective addon installed:
- Organize Status-Bar (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/1759), for sample button #1
- Firefox, for sample buttons #2 and #3
- Console² (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/1815), for sample button #4
- DownThemAll! (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/201), for sample button #5
- UnPlug (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/2254), for sample button #6
- FireFTP (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/684), for sample button #7
- Calculator (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/1194), for sample button #8
A few more samples (for other applications & addons) can be found online at

At the moment this is a very small list, and it will only grow if you send me more button examples!
For support and suggestions (including button examples), send an email to

You can also send me requests, and I will try to implement those examples myself (as time allows).
The order of the custom buttons cannot be configured, and I do not plan to implement this. It is far better to use y5's Organize Status Bar extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/1759), because with it you can change the order of everything on the status-bar, not just the custom buttons. And one of my sample Status-Bar Custom Buttons provides access to the Organize Status Bar configuration...
Supported applications:
(thoroughly tested)
- Firefox: 2.0a1 - 3.7a5pre
(mildly tested)
- Flock (corresponding Firefox versions)
- Thunderbird: 2.0a1 - 3.2a1pre
- SeaMonkey: 2.0a1 - 2.1a2
- Sunbird: 0.9pre - 1.0pre
- Prism: 0.9 - 1.*
- Spicebird: 0.7pre - 0.*
- Komodo Edit: 4.1 - 5.*
- Komodo IDE: 4.1 - 5.*

- eMusic DLM: 4.0 - 4.*
- Songbird: 1.0.0rc1 - 1.*
- Postbox: 1.0a0 - 1.*
(future plans)
- Nvu/KompoZer (currently requires old method install.js for addons instead of install.rdf)
- Instantbird (currently the status-bar does not have an ID, so it cannot be overlayed)
- Celtx (currently all statusbars are hidden, so supporting it is pointless)
- BlueGriffon (couldn't get it to work on my system(s))
- all Mozilla-based applications
