VanDyke ClientPack is a commercial suite of command-line applications and APIs that help developers and system administrators to automate file transfers, shells, as well as for public-key administration tasks, saving their time on configuration tasks and routine administration.

The main component of VanDyke ClientPack is VRALib, a .NET and COM API that helps you to script SSH2 connections in Windows operating systems. Most of the tools also work on Linux/UNIX environments.

Among other utilities, we can mention vsftp, a tool for securing file transfers, vsh, a shell utility, vcp, a command-line file transfer utility, vpka, a tool for uploading keys to secure shell servers, and vkeygen, a private/public key generator tool.

VanDyke ClientPack supports public-key (RSA, Smart Cards using X.509, and DSA), Kerberos v5 (via GSSAPI), keyboard-interactive and password authentication when connecting to SSH2 servers.

Limitations in the unregistered version

  • A 30-day fully functional evaluation license.

What's new in VanDyke ClientPack 7.3:

  • Support for larger keys: Keys up to 16,384 bits can be generated and stored in agent, improving security. The limit for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 32-bit is 4,096.
  • vsftp no flock option: A "no-flock" option turns off locking on local files for uploads and downloads, preventing a potential hang if the source file is located on mounted storage, such as EMC NFS.
