Seafile Server is the server part (interactive daemon) of the Seafile project, an open source, cross-platform, next-generation cloud storage service that provides advanced features on file synchronization, remote collaboration, and privacy protection.

Seafile is a web-based software that offers a personal workspace in the cloud, where anyone who has access can easily create files and organize them. The application lets users to share these files with their colleagues and friends.

Seafile Server is a general name for multiple server components that can be used to run a personal Seafile server on your personal computer, allowing you to host a cloud service in minutes with minimum effort.

It comprises of a FileServer (fileserver) that can handle raw file upload and download functionality for Seahub, the Seafile server (seaf-server), which is a simple data service daemon, and Ccnet server (ccnet-server), which acts as a networking service daemon.

Seafile Server is a multi-platform application, available on the GNU/Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS) and Microsoft Windows operating systems, as well as on the Raspberry Pi computer board. Both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware architectures are supported at this time.

The server component of Seafile is available for download as pre-built binary packages for both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms. It has been tested and it’s officially supported on the Debian 6, Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 14.04, CentOS 5.8, CentOS 6.0+, Microsoft Windows and Raspberry Pi systems. It is written entirely in the UNIX Shell programming language.

Seafile Server does not require any installation, but you will have to configure it first. For this, run the setup-seafile.sh file on a terminal emulator and follow the on-screen instructions. Then, you will be able to control the main server component and run it in the background, as a daemon. Please note that it will only work with DEB- and RPM-based operating systems.

What's new in Seafile Server 4.4.4:
